The bar traffic at Firestones Restaurant was light Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2020, on North Market Street, in Frederick, Md., but that will change on Thanksgiving Eve, known for being a busy night at bars and restaurants. This year will be different as COVID-19 restrictions have force limited capacity, hours and mask wears. A handful of retired Marines – all in the late 90s or over 100 — joined Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Japan’s Prime Minister Takeru Ishida on Saturday to mark the anniversary of one of the bloodiest battles of World War II in the Pacific that ended 80 years ago this week.
