This undated photo provided by the family of the subjects, shows Lawrence J. Reilly Sr. and his son Lawrence J. Reilly Jr., aboard the USS Frank E. Evans when father and son served on the ship together, before it was cut in half by an Australian aircraft carrier while participating in a nighttime training exercise in the South China Sea. Seventy-four sailors died, including Lawrence J. Reilly Jr., but the Pentagon has rejected a longstanding request from survivors of the 1969 Navy ship disaster to add the names of their fallen comrades to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., saying the accident occurred outside the Vietnam combat zone, which precludes the Evans victims from being added to the wall.
