Conservative political pundit Ann Coulter called President Obama a “retard” after his debate Monday night with Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney.
In a Twitter post moments after the 90-minute event in Boca Raton, Fla., Miss Coulter said, “I highly approve of Romney’s decision to be kind and gentle to the retard.”
Her action has spurred outrage on Twitter and elsewhere. Fellow conservative commentator Michelle Malkin tweeted that Miss Coulter’s comment was “stupid,” and the conservative-leaning website Twitchy called it a “thoughtless, barrel-scraping insult.”
Miss Coulter’s controversial post remained active on her Twitter account as of late Tuesday morning.
