The White House on Saturday afternoon confirmed that the president and first lady will join a contingent of other Washington figures in attending funeral services in Hawaii on Sunday for Sen. Daniel Inouye.
The president, who grew up in Hawaii, arrived there Saturday for a beachfront holiday break with his family.
SEE RELATED:According to The Hill newspaper, a group of Mr. Inouye’s congressional colleagues flew out of Washington on Saturday to attend the Sunday services at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific.
The congressional contingent, including a number of Mr. Inouye’s fellow senators, is expected to return to Washington late Sunday.
