...And we're back
Some news from the Nats-Mets game in Port St. Lucie:
Wrapping things up from Kissimmee
The Nationals tied the Astros 2-2, in both their second tie and their second extra-inning affair with Houston this week. Here are the finer points of tonight's game:
A Chad Cordero update
Just heard from a source close to Chad Cordero that the Nationals watched their former closer throw several times this spring, but never made him a formal offer.
Nats sign Julian Tavarez
The Nationals just announced they have signed right-hander Julian Tavarez to a non-guaranteed minor-league deal with an invitation to major-league camp.
Hello from Kissimmee
Some pregame news from the Nationals-Astros game tonight:
Cordero signs with Seattle
Former Nats closer, coming back from injury, signs a minor-league deal with Mariners.
Cabrera's big hit (and more)
The big story of the day here was Daniel Cabrera--and not because of his pitching. The 6-foot-9 right-hander, he of the 14-for-14 track record in Baltimore (that's 14 strikeouts, not 14 hits), actually dropped a single into right field in the third inning against the Braves today.
Morning Manny notes

Nats sign Kip Wells (UPDATED AT 5:57 P.M.)
The Nationals announced late this afternoon they have signed right-hander Kip Wells to a non-guaranteed minor-league deal.

Morning notes from Viera
The big news of the morning is the Nationals' first round of spring cuts. So far, 10 players are gone, Ross Detwiler, Chris Marrero and Mike O'Connor being the most prominent names.
Balester on his outing
Collin Balester said mechanical issues were at the heart of his struggles tonight, when he gave up four runs in three innings, including two home runs, against the Astros.
A doozy at Space Coast Stadium
The Nats lead the Astros 6-4 after three innings in a game that's featured some offensive performances that have to be encouraging for Washington -- and an outing from Collin Balester that the Nationals probably aren't thirlled about.
Monday injury updates
A couple updates from Manny Acta's pregame press conference:
