Boone activated, Gonzalez to DL

To the surprise of no one, the Nationals activated Aaron Boone off the 15-day DL today, about five weeks after he strained a calf muscle trotting from the dugout to first base for a pinch-running appearance, and placed infielder Alberto Gonzalez on the DL with a strained left hamstring.

Prospect Q&A - Fernando Martinez, New York Mets

At first glance, Fernando Martinez' statistics with the Binghamton Mets - .288 with seven home runs and 30 RBI in 285 at bats - probably strike you as solid but unspectacular. But take a moment to consider that he's posted those numbers as a 19-year-old in double-A, and you'll begin to understand why Baseball America ranked him as the No. 1 prospect in the Mets organization and the 20th best in all of baseball entering this year. An Aaron Crow development

Interesting development regarding Aaron Crow, the Nationals' first-round pick. The Fort Worth Cats of the independent Texas League announced they have signed Crow, and that the former Missouri pitcher will play there if he doesn't sign with the Nationals.
