In this 1950s photo provided by the New York Public Library, Timothy Leary gives a lecture on his first book, “Interpersonal Diagnosis of Personality.” Leary saved thousands of documents, correspondence and writings relating to his scientific research into psychedelic drugs in the 1960s, much of it never published but now available to scholars and the public at the New York Public Library, which purchased the collection in 2011 from the Leary estate.
