Miss America 2011 Teresa Scanlan certainly isn't the only pageant contestant ever to have political aspirations. The Republican vice-presidential nominee in the last election, Sarah Palin, placed third in the preliminary Miss Alaska Pageant in 1984. So Miss Scanlon's appearance and vibrant personality could be campaigning assets.
