The Massachusetts State Police (MSP) is an agency of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts' Executive Office of Public Safety and Security responsible for criminal law enforcement and traffic vehicle regulation across the state. At present, it has approximately 2,200 officers and 400 civilian support staff—making it the second largest law enforcement agency in New England, one behind the Massachusetts Department of Correction which has 4,000 sworn officers and 1,000 civilians. The MSP is headed by Colonel Marian McGovern. She is the first woman to head the MSP in its 144 year history. Its General Headquarters (GHQ) is located in Framingham, Massachusetts. The MSP is the oldest statewide law enforcement agency in the United States. - Source: Wikipedia
