The Chesapeake Bay Trust is a non-profit organization established by the Maryland General Assembly in 1985. Its mission is to promote public awareness and participation in restoring and protecting the water quality and the aquatic and land resources of the Chesapeake Bay. Since its inception, the organization has made over $27 million in grants to support restoration of the Chesapeake Bay. The organization receives no public tax dollars. It is funded primarily through sales of commemorative Chesapeake Bay license plates and voluntary donations to the Chesapeake Bay and Endangered Species Fund. Headquartered in Annapolis, Maryland, the organization has repeatedly received four stars (the highest possible rating) from Charity Navigator, an independent charity evaluator. - Source: Wikipedia
