LOS ANGELES — The California Department of Motor Vehicles has apologized for an “unacceptable and disturbing” personalized truck license plate that the agency said displayed hate speech related to the Oct. 7 attack on Israel.

The vehicle can transport four people, can reach 35 mph, and can deal with turns, traffic lights, cyclists and pedestrians, other vehicles and other road hazards, the company said.
