Hezly Rivera met the moment. The 17-year-old Olympic gold medalist pulled away for a victory at the U.S. gymnastics championships on Sunday, looking more than ready to be the standard-bearer for the women's program in the early stages of the run-up to the 2028 Games in Los Angeles.

USA Gymnastics enters new era both on and off the floor as U.S. championships begin

Simone Biles, Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles and Jade Carey are all on sabbatical from elite gymnastics, perhaps for good. And when Joscelyn Roberson salutes the judges during the first night of the U.S. Gymnastics Championships on Friday, the world championship gold medalist and Olympic alternate will be one of the few athletes on the floor with experience on the sport's biggest stage.
