The Commanders agreed to their first deal of the free agency period on Monday afternoon. Cornerback Amik Robertson plans to sign a two-year, $16 million deal with Washington, a source familiar with the negotiations told The Washington Times.
The contract includes $9.3 million in guarantees.
Robertson, a fourth-round pick in the 2020 draft, started his career with the Las Vegas Raiders before joining the Detroit Lions ahead of the 2024 season. Across six campaigns, Robertson recorded five total interceptions.
He has played all 17 games in each of the past four seasons. During his final year in Detroit, Robertson started 10 games, securing one interception and 52 tackles for the Lions.
The Louisiana Tech product joins a depleted Commanders’ cornerback room. The franchise released former Pro Bowler Marshon Lattimore on Friday after a pair of disappointing seasons in the District.
Robertson joins starting cornerbacks Trey Amos and Mike Sainristil, the Commanders’ second-round selections from the past two drafts, in the secondary.
