Former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene is throwing her support behind Tucker Carlson for president after President Trump said the conservative commentator has “lost his way.”
Mr. Trump told ABC News in a phone interview Thursday that Mr. Carlson “has lost his way” and that he’s “not MAGA” after Mr. Carlson criticized the escalating Iran conflict.
“I knew that a long time ago, and he’s not MAGA. MAGA is saving our country. MAGA is making our country great again,” Mr. Trump said. “MAGA is America First, and Tucker is none of those things. And Tucker is really not smart enough to understand that.”
Ms. Greene held a Georgia House seat before resigning earlier this year amid a very public falling out with Mr. Trump over her staunch support of releasing the files related to deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Mr. Trump started calling her “Marjorie Taylor Brown” and a “traitor,” along with pulling his endorsement of her.
She hit back at the president’s comments about Mr. Carlson Thursday.
“I SUPPORT TUCKER,” she wrote on X.
“Trump doesn’t even know what MAGA is anymore and turned it into MIGA,” she wrote. “Trump is not America First, he’s donor first.”
“Tucker would beat Trump if he ran for President and Trump tried to violate the Constitution and tried to run again for a third term,” he said.
The U.S. and Israel launched strikes on Iran late last month in a mission dubbed Operation Epic Fury.
Mr. Carlson shared his opposition to the war, calling it “absolutely disgusting and evil.”
In response to Mr. Trump’s comments about him, Mr. Carlson told Status founder Oliver Darcy, “There are times I get annoyed with Trump, right now definitely included, but I’ll always love him no matter what he says about me.”
He is not the only well-known conservative commentator to question the administration’s strikes on Iran, which have resulted in six U.S. service members being killed.
Megyn Kelly said on her SiriusXM show that she “would like to be better convinced that this is worth the sacrifice of American blood treasure.”
