OPINION:
What do Presidents Clinton, George W. Bush and Trump have in common besides turning 80 in 2026? All possessed intelligence before potentially devastating attacks on the United States.
When terrorists attacked New York and Washington in September 2001, Mr. Bush had been in office only eight months. Both he and his predecessor, Mr. Clinton, were heavily criticized for having intelligence on Osama bin Laden and al Qaeda that might have allowed them to prevent the attacks.
However, such action was risky and they likely would have faced even more criticism for using the military before an attack had occurred.
Mr. Trump did act on intelligence before we were attacked by Iran. He moved when conditions were optimum. Now, he faces heavy criticism for doing so.
The Washington Times has reported for years that Iran is months or weeks away from having nuclear weapons. It also has reported on Iran’s means to deliver those weapons close to our shores.
If the country that has screamed “Death to America” for 47 years had attacked one of our cities, what would we say about Mr. Trump then?
