Anthony Davis is inching toward his Wizards debut. The Washington franchise said Thursday that the 10-time All-Star was cleared for “individual on-court basketball activities” as he recovers from ligament damage in his left, nonshooting hand.

The Wizards did not speculate when Davis could join the rest of the team, but team officials said they would reevaluate him in two weeks.

The five-time All-NBA selection has not suited up for the Wizards since they acquired him from the Dallas Mavericks ahead of last month’s trade deadline. The 6-10 power forward has not played since Jan. 8 due to the injury.

Davis averaged 20.4 points per game with 11.1 rebounds across 20 appearances this season. Injury concerns have plagued the 32-year-old’s career. He is widely considered one of the best defenders in the league when healthy.

However, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2012 draft has played more than 62 games just once since the 2017-18 season.

Davis, who is under contract for next season with a player option ahead of the 2027-28 campaign, projects to be a featured piece of Washington’s lineups next season.

Davis’ new teammate, guard Trae Young, is scheduled to play his first game in a Wizards uniform at home against the Utah Jazz on Thursday night.
