OPINION:
I was appalled when I read Everett Piper’s recent column, “The shocking antisemitism of the right: So-called Christians are some of the worst Jew-haters there are” (Web, March 29).
The subtitle of the piece is misleading. The overwhelming majority of Christians — and especially their pastors — are long-standing supporters of Israel and Jews throughout the world. The people who sent Mr. Piper the hateful venom about Jews are not Christians, and probably not from the political right. I suspect they are from the radical left posing as Christians.
Here is a fundamental thought about someone who hates Jews: If a person hates Jews, he is not a Christian. A Christian is a person who believes in Jesus and loves him as his Lord and Savior. Jesus is a Jew. One cannot hate Jews and love Jesus.
Regarding blaming all Jews for the death of Jesus, it was the Romans who scourged Jesus within an inch of his life, who put the Crown of Thorns on Jesus’ head and then crucified him. Why are their descendants given a free pass? And it most of the Apostles were Jewish. original followers of Jesus, by the thousands, were also Jews.
Jews are not hated because of the death of Jesus. They were made slaves under Egypt, Assyria and Babylon long before Jesus was born. Jews are tormented in this world because they are the chosen people of God, because Jesus is a Jew and because Satan hates God and Jesus. Satan has control over our world.
Since 1948, Jews have been persecuted by the Arabs. The United States has always been a safe haven for Jews and a faithful ally of Israel. But now, Arab money has taken a toll on that relationship. Our elites are taking millions from Arab countries such as Qatar, with particular endowments to our most prominent universities.
Arab antisemitism is even working its way down into our grade schools because some American so-called educators will do anything for money.
Real Christians do not hate Jews. They love Jews, as they love Jesus. You can’t have one without the other.
