The U.S. Marshals Task Force arrested a man Monday accused of fatally shooting a man inside a car in the parking lot of the Potomac Mills mall in Woodbridge.
Clifton Douglas, 25, allegedly went to the mall on Feb. 24 to meet with the victim. The Prince William County Police Department alleged Tuesday that Mr. Douglas got into the victim’s car, got into an argument and then shot the victim before fleeing the scene with another suspect.
The victim was shot in the upper body and managed to exit the car before collapsing. First responders rendered aid and took him to the hospital, where he died.
While police only referred to him as a 34-year-old Alexandria man, the victim has since been identified as Baffour Gundona, according to the Prince William Times.
Police did not say why Mr. Douglas was meeting with Mr. Gundona or what sparked their dispute.
The second suspect, Beau Bishop, 28, of Woodbridge, is accused of bringing Mr. Douglas to Potomac Mills in his car and subsequently driving away with Mr. Douglas after the alleged shooting.
Mr. Douglas, who is charged with murder and use of a firearm to commit a felony, was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Task Force in Chesterfield County, about 100 miles away from Woodbridge Monday.
Mr. Bishop, who is charged with accessory after the fact and concealing or compounding offenses, was arrested by county police at his home on Friday.
The court dates for both men are pending, Prince William police said, and both are being held without bond.
Mr. Gundona’s family described him in a GoFundMe for his funeral as “more than just a son and an older brother — he was a protector, a provider, and the heart of our family.”
