OPINION:
President Trump ordered the military to attack Iran because Tehran was reportedly only weeks away from having weapons-grade uranium, enough to make 11 nuclear bombs, according to the administration.
Iranian leadership has often said it wants to destroy the United States. The CIA reported that within six months, Iran could have had missiles capable of reaching our country.
Many congressional Democrats and much of the news media have strongly criticized the U.S. attack on Iran. They have also criticized Mr. Trump and in some cases have openly said they want the U.S. to lose this war because of their strong dislike for him.
The United States cannot risk the possibility of Iran possessing nuclear bombs and the capability to launch them at us. Many older Americans still recall the Cuban Missile Crisis and how close we came then to nuclear war with the Soviet Union.
However, because most Americans did not experience the fear associated with a nuclear-armed conflict, they may not fully comprehend or respond to the current threat.
