President Trump said the reason he cast a mail-in ballot in a Florida special election this week despite lambasting such voting is because of his position.

“Because of the fact that I am president of the United States. I did a mail-in ballot for elections that took place in Florida because I should be here instead of being in the beautiful sunshine,” he told reporters at Thursday’s Cabinet meeting.

Mr. Trump has repeatedly condemned mail-in ballots, alleging they lead to rampant election fraud.

“Mail-in voting means mail-in cheating,” he said Monday.

However, on Thursday, Mr. Trump said there should be some exceptions such as being in the military, traveling, or having a disability or illness.

“I was away mostly in Washington, D.C., so I used a mail-in ballot,” he said.
