President Trump said Iran gifted the U.S. eight boats of oil to help lower soaring energy costs.

Speaking at Thursday’s Cabinet meeting, Mr. Trump said that was the Iranians’ way of showing “the fact that they are real and solid.”

He added, “There are eight boats that are going right up the middle of the Hormuz Strait. Eight big tankers are going loaded up with oil right through, and I said, ‘Well, I guess they are right,” with assurance he’s “dealing with the right people.”

Mr. Trump said the vessels have Pakistani flags, with Iran possibly adding two boats to bring the number up to 10.

Earlier this week, Mr. Trump teased the gift for reporters during the swearing-in ceremony of Department of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin.

“They’re gonna make a deal. They did something yesterday that was amazing, actually. They gave us a present, and the present arrived today, and it was a very big present worth a tremendous amount of money,” he told reporters on Tuesday.
