OPINION:
President Trump’s dumbest move yet has to be his call for no masks on U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents deployed to airports (“WATCH — ‘Not the right look’: Trump asks ICE agents to go maskless at airports,” Web, March 23).
He already had said the deployments would include “the immediate arrest of all illegal immigrants who have come into our country, with heavy emphasis on those from Somalia.”
As a result, unmasked ICE agents are being pursued around the airport, videos and photographs of them are being taken, and their images are being published all over the place.
Does Mr. Trump think antifa has no ability to access facial recognition technology?
Mr. Trump put Tom Homan in charge of this operation. Mr. Homan was pulled out of Minneapolis after several useful idiots got themselves killed by deliberately engaging in confrontations with ICE agents. He hasn’t exactly been set up for success in this new role.
ICE is not a crowd control agency. Mr. Trump should have followed the lead of the Supreme Court and deployed the U.S. military. Instead of defending Mr. Homan, former Border Patrol chief Greg Bovino and ICE operations, he allowed the legacy media to control the narrative and capitulated to misguided reporting and consequential sentiment.
