OPINION:
The war on White supremacy is recycled Marxism.
Because many who denounce it the most bitterly are themselves White, it’s also self-hatred.
Whether they are politicians, bureaucrats, academics or authors, leftists can hardly open their mouths these days without blaming White supremacy for something. Earlier this month, when terrorists threw explosive devices at protesters outside Gracie Mansion, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s initial response was to condemn not the terrorists, who by their own admission wanted to create another Boston Marathon bombing, but rather those protesting the growing influence of Islam on the city. (Mr. Mamdani called the demonstration “a vile protest rooted in White supremacy.”)
Wait, I thought Islam was a religion, not a race.
Even the city’s Marxist mayor is a moderate compared with Cea Weaver, head of the Mayor’s Office to Protect Tenants, which sounds like a cross between an AWFUL (Affluent White Female Urban Liberal) and Josef Stalin.
Ms. Weaver charges that “private property is a weapon of White supremacy” and the United States “built wealth for White people through genocide, slavery, stolen land and labor.”
I wonder whom her mother exploited to get her $1.6 million home in Nashville, Tennessee.
Former CNN host Don Lemon, an agitator posing as a journalist, defended his participation in the mob attack on a St. Paul, Minnesota, church — whose pastor was suspected of involvement with the Department of Homeland Security — by charging that the church was a hotbed of (you guessed it) White supremacy.
Elsewhere in the Land of 10,000 Loons, until quite recently, the Minnesota Management and Budget Department used a 32-page training manual titled “White Supremacy Culture — Still Here,” written by “anti-racist educator and activist” Tema Okun, another AWFUL.
White supremacy “is a project of psychic conditioning and toxic belonging,” the author declares. It pervades “the land and the water and the sky and the air we breathe.”
“We are living through a period where the U.S. Republican Party is overtly and boldly proclaiming a White supremacy, autocratic agenda,” Okun adds. Would that include tax cuts and regulatory reform?
Sounding like the villain in an Ayn Rand novel, Ms. Okun explains that White supremacy includes “the pursuit of perfection and the value of objectivity and rationality over the emotional and the belief that progress is measured by being bigger and having more.”
Her ideal society consists of huddled masses and bread lines. In other words, she wants us to be Cuba.
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul is another White woman fighting White supremacy. Ms. Hochul just signed a bill banning anonymous tips to the state’s child abuse hotline. The governor believes these reports are fomenting racism — or, perhaps, beating the heck out of your child is a cherished custom in some cultures.
Bill Donohue of the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights complains: “It does not matter to Hochul that Black children are three times as likely to die of abuse or neglect as White children. Nor does it matter to her that the data show that anonymous tips are very reliable and lead to more children being saved.”
Black children must suffer to fight White supremacy.
When classic Marxism died, hatred of Western civilization took its place.
Shale Horowitz of the National Association of Scholars writes: “Consider what has become the centerpiece of Western self-hatred — the evils perpetrated by ‘White’ people against other racial or ethnic groups. Central arguments are that Whites and the West are responsible for all or most evil, and that this evil overshadows any alleged good works that might raise doubts about whether Whites and Western tradition are appropriate hate figures.”
These “alleged good works” include the Industrial Revolution, which made slavery obsolete, and the U.S. Constitution, which served as a model for representative government.
It’s all so convenient. If people of color have higher dropout rates, lower rates of family formation, more poverty, higher crime rates and less homeownership, then blame it on White supremacy.
This fails to explain why so many non-Whites succeed while so-called privileged Whites fail.
White supremacy has all the elements of classic Marxism. Instead of capitalists, Whites become the exploiters and people of color, the proletariat. Presumably, after the revolution, those with paler skin will be confined to racial gulags to atone for their sins.
In the meantime, race hustlers will grow fat writing books exposing White supremacy and expiating liberal guilt. It’s only a matter of time before someone blames fires, floods, earthquakes and war in the Middle East on White supremacy.
