The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences says it is “extremely upset” after a security guard shoved actress Teyana Taylor at Sunday night’s Oscars ceremony and is taking “appropriate measures” to ensure it does not happen again, according to multiple news outlets.

Ms. Taylor, a best supporting actress nominee for “One Battle After Another,” was physically stopped by a guard inside the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles as she walked onstage with her cast after the film won best picture.

Footage from the incident shows Ms. Taylor saying, “He’s putting his hands on a female,” and calling him “very rude.”

Security Industry Specialists, the firm that staffed the event, acknowledged the confrontation in a statement, saying “there was incidental contact” and the situation’s escalation did not meet the company’s standards for professionalism.

Ms. Taylor thanked the Academy for its response and posted on X: “I really appreciate your unwavering love and support.”
