Two men are accused of shattering a woolly mammoth tusk in an exhibit at a Missouri museum, multiple news outlets report.
Camera footage inside the Ancient Ozarks Natural History Museum in Ridgedale showed two men trying to swing from the tusk before it broke off and shattered on the ground.
The 200-pound tusk is estimated to cost about $1,000 per pound.
Taney County Sheriff Brad Daniels told SFGate.com that the men tried to escape but were arrested Monday night.
The men, both from the San Francisco Bay Area, were charged with first-degree property damage and released on a $15,000 bond.
The men face felony property damage charges, which could incur a maximum prison sentence of four years upon conviction.
