A Reston, Virginia, man is facing three counts of peeping into an occupied dwelling after, Fairfax County police alleged Monday, a drone caught him in the act.

A victim reported seeing an unknown man peering through her window at  11:17 p.m. Friday, the Fairfax County Police Department said.

A police drone responded to the scene within 38 seconds of the report being made. Police say the drone caught suspect Larry Mudd, 35, peeping into multiple residences.

After being notified by detectives who initially used the drone, other Fairfax County officers went to the scene in the 12000 block of Waterside View Drive and arrested Mr. Mudd.

Mr. Mudd was initially taken into custody and sent to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center in Fairfax, but has since been released on a bond of personal recognizance, police said.

Fairfax County police said anyone with information about the Friday incidents, or anyone who believes they may have been a victim of another crime involving Mr. Mudd, should call 703-478-0904.

The peeping charges against Mr. Mudd came amid the police department’s ongoing investigation into a series of burglaries earlier this month in Centreville, where victims reported seeing a suspect standing nude inside their homes after breaking in.

The police said Monday that they “do not believe Mudd is involved” in the Centreville incidents.
