Pop singer Miley Cyrus is marking the 20th anniversary of “Hannah Montana” with a special airing on Disney+ exactly two decades after the sitcom premiered on Disney Channel, multiple news outlets report.
A trailer for the “Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special” shows Ms. Cyrus walking around the sets used in the series alongside her mother, Tish Cyrus, and her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, who played her dad on the show.
In the series, Ms. Cyrus portrayed Miley Stewart, a regular teenager by day who becomes the famous pop singer Hannah Montana at night. Only her family and closest friends know her double identity.
The special was hosted by Alex Cooper, host of the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, and filmed before a live studio audience. It includes an in-depth interview with Ms. Cyrus and never-before-seen archival footage, Rolling Stone reports.
Disney mentioned that Ms. Cyrus might perform some of her classic Hannah Montana songs, noting in a press release that “familiar notes” would find their way back into the spotlight.
After the trailer’s release last month, Ms. Cyrus remarked on the show’s importance for herself and its fans.
“Hannah Montana” ran for four seasons from 2006 to 2011 and featured guest stars such as Dolly Parton, the Jonas Brothers and Selena Gomez.
The special is set to air on March 24.
