The GoFundMe campaign created for the family of Renee Macklin Good has surpassed $1.5 million in the two days since she was shot and killed by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent in Minneapolis.

On Wednesday, an ICE officer fatally shot the 37-year-old in her car when she got into an altercation with the federal agents.

The donations will go to her wife, Rebecca, and their three children. The site originally set a goal of $50,000 to support the family as they “grapple with the devastating loss of their wife and mother.”

One anonymous donor alone contributed $50,000, effectively covering the intended amount.

“First, I want to extend my gratitude to all the people who have reached out from across the country and around the world to support our family,” Rebecca said to MPR News.

The family of five had just moved to Minneapolis.

Ms. Good’s mother, Donna Ganger, told the Minnesota Star Tribune that her daughter was “probably terrified” during the confrontation. City leaders said Ms. Good was there as a legal observer of ICE activities.

As Republicans and Democrats scramble to control the narrative of Wednesday’s incident, videos posted across social media are fueling the partisan fire.

One video showed Ms. Good’s car stopped on a road as three officers got out of a pickup truck with emergency lights. As one attempted to open the driver’s door, she reversed and then lurched the car forward, prompting the officer in front of the vehicle to draw his weapon and fire three shots.

A new video from the perspective of the ICE officer involved in the shooting shows the other half of the story.

The officer makes his way back to the front of the vehicle just as other officers approach the driver’s side and order Ms. Good to get out. She lurches the car forward, apparently hitting the ICE office as the camera goes awry. A crunching sound can be heard, aligning with Homeland Security’s claim that the officer was struck by the vehicle.
