Washington Commanders cornerback Marshon Lattimore was arrested in Lakewood, Ohio, on Wednesday night, team officials confirmed to The Washington Times.

He’s charged with carrying a concealed weapon and improperly handling a firearm in a vehicle, according to records from the Lakewood Police Department.

The police report indicated that Lattimore had a 9 mm Glock 45 handgun on his person when an officer pulled him over for a traffic stop.

“We have been made aware of the arrest and are gathering more information,” a Commanders spokesperson said in a statement on Thursday. “We have informed the NFL League Office and have no further comment at this time.”

Lattimore last played for the Commanders in their November loss to the Seattle Seahawks. The 29-year-old suffered an ACL injury, then was placed on season-ending injured reserve.

Injuries have derailed the four-time Pro Bowler’s tenure in Washington. Since the Commanders traded for him in October 2024, Lattimore has started just 11 games, with 31 tackles, 10 pass breakups and an interception.

The Ohio State product started his career with the New Orleans Saints. The 2017 first-round pick was named Defensive Rookie of the Year and recorded 15 interceptions, developing a reputation as one of the league’s top cornerbacks.

Lattimore, a Cleveland native, faced similar charges in 2021. At that time, he was a passenger in a vehicle that police officers stopped for traffic violations. The defensive back pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor after failing to inform the authorities that he was armed.

An Ohio judge sentenced him to one year of probation, and prosecutors dropped the original felony charge.

Lattimore is under contract through the 2026 season after signing a five-year, $97.6 million extension in 2021. He carries an $18.5 million cap hit for next season, but none of his remaining salary is guaranteed.

The salary cap experts at Over The Cap had already listed Lattimore as a cut candidate due to his age, hefty salary, injury history and lackluster performance in Washington.
