OPINION:
In home invasions, do we refer to the burglars or trespassers as visitors or guests? Of course not. Why, then, are people who illegally invade our country portrayed in media as immigrants or migrants instead of what they are: illegal aliens?
How can violating the border and immigration laws of virtually every civilized nation be considered “doing nothing wrong”? This outright endorsement of lawlessness is causing many to mistake anarchy for freedom. What has been forgotten is that most of our “huddled masses” came through Ellis Island and similar processing destinations.
The presence of millions of illegals is causing sufficient alarm, and our government is increasing enforcement measures. Unfortunately, this has become a polarizing issue stimulated by the illegal immigrants themselves and those who want a cheap, desperate labor pool.
Citizens who desire a stable, prosperous, law-abiding society want law enforcement.
If those politicians promoting “sanctuary” policies were required to welcome no-knock vagabonds into their own homes, then their support for illegal foreign nationals would soon dwindle.
We can no longer afford to be Central and South America’s welfare system.
