I have long said that if President Trump cured cancer, CNN would run a story complaining that he put doctors out of work.

The vitriol for the sitting president from much of the mainstream media and from the Democrats is inexcusably irrational. Having political disagreement is one thing, but pure hatred and disagreeing simply for the sake of disagreeing is something else altogether.

The year began with the Trump administration nabbing an international criminal, allegedly responsible for a significant portion of the U.S. cocaine trade. Experts put the carnage of annual U.S. deaths as a result of said cocaine somewhere north of 100,000. Stopping the drugs and (one would assume) thousands of future deaths should be cause for celebration. Instead Mr. Trump’s political opposition and much of the mainstream media, are decrying the action. Some members of Congress are questioning the constitutional authority to take such action, despite a clear record of similar U.S. action in the past from presidents of both parties.

Nicolas Maduro was originally indicted by the U.S. Department of Justice in 2020. In addition to his international drug activity, it is generally accepted around the globe that he stole the last Venezuelan election. He is not the legitimate leader of his nation. Ironically, the same Americans who fret about Mr. Trump being a fascist are very upset that a South American dictator who suppresses dissent is being brought to justice. Why? Because Donald Trump did it.

This irrationality covers more issues than the Venezuela operation.

Let’s hop in the time machine and go back to the 2024 U.S. presidential election. What were the top two issues on voters’ minds? No. 1 was the economy and No. 2 was illegal immigration.

Inflation under President Biden had flared up over 9%. Mr. Trump promised to tame inflation. Currently, less than a year into Mr. Trump’s administration, prices are rising at about 2.5%. Gas prices are down. Egg prices are down. The media and the left? They are complaining about “affordability.” No one likes the higher prices America is facing, but assigning responsibility accurately is pretty important. Prices under Mr. Biden rose more than 21%. Prices under Mr. Trump have gone up 2.5%. Are prices uncomfortable? Absolutely.

Blaming Mr. Trump however, makes little sense. I am scratching my head in bewilderment over that.

At the border, illegals were streaming in by the tens of thousands every month under the Biden administration. In fact, two years ago this month, Mr. Biden’s White House and nearly all of the Democrat side of Congress were pushing legislation that would have allowed 5,000 illegals to enter every day. No paperwork. No visa. Just line up at the gate and the first 5,000 had a free pass. Mr. Biden quite literally said, “there is nothing else I can do.” Thankfully the proposed legislation died a quick death.

In May 2024, 62,000 people streamed across the southern U.S. border illegally. ICE and Border Patrol were essentially told to stand down.

What a difference a year makes. In 2025, after only 100 days in office, the Trump administration was able to fully implement its policies and in May 2025, zero people entered the U.S. illegally. None. Zip. Zilch. Nada. No change of the law, but rather simply allowing the men and women working to protect our borders to do their jobs resulted in, wait for it, complete compliance. Was there praise from the Democrats? No. They were too busy belly-aching about how deporting an alleged MS-13 gang member, who was in the U.S. illegally, was inhumane.

Mr. Trump’s top priority when preparing to move back into the White House was to bring peace to Gaza. The leadership in Israel had a great relationship with the reelected Republican, but so did the Saudis and a number of other Arab nations. Before he had even been sworn in, Mr. Trump had a special envoy meeting with all the appropriate parties. As I type this, peace has broken out in Gaza. Neighboring countries from all over the Middle East and North Africa are buying into and participating in the process.

Was Mr. Trump lauded by the American media for this stunning accomplishment? Absolutely not. Like the children from the original Willie Wonka movie, they ignore the gift and instead demand to know why he hasn’t brought peace in the Russia/Ukraine conflict. “But he said he would bring peace on day one!” Oh my. In Gaza, the killing has stopped. Food is getting in. Plans to rebuild are progressing. But according to the angry left, he is a failure at diplomacy.

Let’s jump back to the economy. Mr. Trump’s tariffs became a reality in August 2025 over the cries of “Henny Penny, the sky is falling.” We were told the tariffs would kill the stock market. The tariffs would cause unprecedented inflation. The tariffs were mean to the people of (fill in the country of your choice here).

As it has turned out, the stock market is higher than ever, and as previously mentioned, inflation has dropped dramatically since the Biden years. The sky did not fall.

On the upside, as of December 2025, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) data shows that more than $200 billion has been collected in revenue from the new tariffs imposed by Mr. Trump in 2025. Has ABC News declared this is brilliant? Has MSNow acknowledged success? Has CNN begrudgingly chalked one up for the current administration? Of course not.

Donald Trump isn’t perfect. Not even close. But in 2025 he racked up victory after victory. Economically. On the border. Internationally. In the courts. Even if you don’t like him, the results are hard to argue with. Do you want tens of thousands of people entering the U.S. illegally every month? Do you prefer higher inflation? Do you want cocaine flowing into the country like an ocean tide?

To be clear, Mr. Trump did not cure cancer. The headline was to make a point. That said, now that it is in print, his detractors will probably complain that the fact he has not cured cancer is evidence of yet another failure on his part.
