In his remarks announcing the end of his campaign for a third term as Minnesota governor, Tim Walz exhibited for all to see his complete lack of integrity, honesty and leadership (“Tim Walz, Democrats’ 2024 VP candidate, won’t run for a third term as Minnesota governor,” Web, Jan. 5).

Rather than acknowledge the incredible seriousness of the growing “home care” scandal in his state and accepting responsibility, he fell back on the oh-so-frequent Democratic line, “It’s President Trump’s fault.” I wish I could say Mr. Walz’s failure as a leader and childish attempts to blame that failure on someone else were unique in the political world, but they are the norm.

Blaming the president may satisfy the Trump derangement syndrome culture, but it damages our country when people who are supposed to lead not only do not accept responsibility for their bad judgment but also suffer few, if any, negative consequences.

Imagine for a moment had Kamala Harris won the election. The word “terrifying” comes to mind.
