Scott Adams, creator of the comic strip “Dilbert,” provided another update Thursday on his struggle with prostate cancer.

In a livestream, Mr. Adams said he talked to his radiologist Wednesday and received “bad news” on his chances of recovery from the cancer, which he revealed publicly in May. He is paralyzed below the waist.

“So the odds of me recovering are essentially zero. I’ll give you any updates if that changes, but it won’t. So there’s no chance I’ll get my feeling back in my legs. And I’ve got some ongoing heart failure, which is making it difficult to breathe sometimes during the day,” he said.

Mr. Adams added, “I’ll take some painkillers if I need them. There’s no real limit to what I can take at this point. And I will probably smoke massive amounts of marijuana because it puts me into a stupor. It actually feels kind of good.”

Especially bugging him, he said, were periodic coughing attacks that last for hours, leaving him unable to breathe normally.

The “Dilbert” comic ran in newspapers from 1989 until 2023, when it was removed from syndication over Mr. Adams’ racial comments.

It has since run as a webcomic titled “Dilbert Reborn” for subscribers on X and the locals.com platform, according to the artist’s website.
