OPINION:
Recipients of the temporary “enhanced” COVID-19 subsidies for the so-called Affordable Care Act over the past three years should understand how Obamacare and Bidenflation pushed health care costs sky high.
The ACA is designed to drive up costs by mandating “free” preventive services. Worse, it spawned a whole range of cottage industries that themselves pushed up costs by relentlessly marketing services for “free” screenings, counseling and preventive medications, whether the services were essential or not.
Bidenflation and government mandates placed similar inflationary pressure on health care coverage provided under private plans and those funded by employer subsidy. Although my wife and I have health care coverage significantly supported by employer subsidy, our share of premiums for coverage for just the two of us have increased by more than $2,700 over the past three years.
So what are Obamacare subsidy recipients complaining about? If they are unhappy with Obamacare, then they shouldn’t have believed President Obama, shouldn’t have opted for a health care plan designed to increase costs and shouldn’t have voted for Joseph R. Biden.
