OPINION:
The Washington Post recently fired one-third of its staff (“Washington Post says one-third of its staff across all departments is being laid off,” Web, Feb. 4). It got rid of all its sports reporters. You can probably guess why: People did not like what they wrote.
They hid the “man” parts of the paper. I had to hunt around to find the sports and financial sections. When I did find them, they contained fewer pages than before. The Post is apparently too effeminate for men.
It appears that the newspaper has kept enough staff to continue to write the news with the same liberal slant. It did not learn its lesson. Readers would appreciate news that does not take sides. We do not want writing that reeks of Trump derangement syndrome. To be fair, we also do not want sycophantic praise for the Republicans. We are like Diogenes, who looked in vain for an honest man.
I will continue to subscribe to The Post, but not for the usual reasons. I have trained my dog to go exclusively on The Washington Post. My dog’s favorite part of the paper is Section A because it gets so many Pulitzer Prizes.
If The Post takes my advice to be more objective, then it will probably get fewer of those prizes.
