OPINION:
President Trump has had remarkable success in reducing war around the world, without any help from the Democratic Party.
The hatred and antisemitism infecting the United Nations, our universities and our elected officials shows that the Marxists have taken over the Democratic Party of my grandparents. The socialists are winning the war my family members and I fought serving in the military. In the past, the enemy was always foreign. No longer.
Our once “United” States of America, formerly protected by the enforcement of laws, is now divided, with sanctuary zones. Our Constitution, which should soon be celebrating its 250th anniversary, apparently didn’t make it.
Sanctuary cities are not mentioned anywhere in the Constitution. Politicians are violating the law and their oath of office protecting criminals and illegal immigrants.
There is no punishment; they seem to be above the law. Possible penalties ought to include censure, loss of committee assignments, fines and/or expulsion from Congress.
Our country is at a crossroads, and the situation can’t be resolved in the current political environment. The states must decide what they want to do: enforce federal laws and protect law enforcement officials doing their sworn duties, or flout those laws by supporting sanctuary policies.
The president can sign an executive order convening a convention of states to confirm enforcement of all federal laws. There would be a simple vote to support the Constitution and stay united or pass an amendment providing for voluntary secession. States choosing to establish sanctuary cities would lose congressional representation for applicable districts.
