OPINION:
The Democrats’ choice last week to hold an event competing with the State of the Union does not look good for unity. It appears they have forgotten how their actions look to foreign partners and other nations that see us as a model of democracy.
At a recent community event, I asked the international guest, “How does the world view America?” Here’s what I was told: “Silly, poor leadership, weak. Why do Americans think there are three genders? Why are public education students’ grades so poor in the richest country?” It was understandable.
Democratic voters have told me they are happy with reduced crime and the performance of their 401(k) plans but that they will never acknowledge as much publicly.
An identity crisis among Democratic leaders and voters makes it difficult to determine their priorities on parental rights, crime, education and border sovereignty. Many have even ignored the value of Black History Month.
My biggest concern about the Democrats is their continued refusal to accept that President Biden’s four years were a resounding failure, thanks to “progressive” policies on the economy, crime, border security and education.
They are so blinded by jealousy of President Trump’s successes that they refuse to embrace commonsense principles that would help them.
Maybe this is why so many former Democratic voters I know voted for Mr. Trump. The Democrats need a new playbook to avoid another loss.
