Comedic actor Martin Short’s 42-year-old daughter died Monday evening by an act of suicide, multiple news outlets report.
Katherine Hartley Short was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound by police and fire crews in her Hollywood Hills home.
Mr. Short said his daughter “will be remembered for the light and joy she brought into the world.”
Ms. Short was a social worker in Los Angeles and was involved with the nonprofit Bring Change to Mind, which works with high schools to end the stigma around mental health.
The Short family has asked for privacy during this time.
