Democrats are the criminals’ best friend. After the party’s victory in the Old Dominion in November, the left decided it was time to drop the moderation pretense and go full radical. In Fairfax County, Virginia, Commonwealth’s Attorney Steve Descano just gave a sweetheart plea bargain to the man charged with carrying out a plot to kill Gret Glyer, the CEO of DonorSee.

Glyer’s last post on X was, “The day we end extreme poverty, we will throw the world’s biggest party. It will be one of the greatest days of humankind.” This devout Christian man wanted to relieve suffering around the globe, so he founded a nonprofit that decentralized the process of sending donations to individuals with medical and other needs in impoverished nations.

He didn’t have a chance to see his dream fulfilled because, in June 2022, Joshua Danehower allegedly barged into his home and shot the 32-year-old 10 times as he lay in bed. This act matched a detailed, written outline of the slaying that police discovered. The chilling document listed steps such as “Quick fire, multiple rounds” and “Finishing shot.” It also detailed the need to swap clothing, ditching the incriminating garments in a dumpster in Arlington, far from the crime scene.

Those are the words of a man who didn’t want to get caught, and the most obvious ploy for getting away with a monstrous act would be to make a show of being nuts. Such ploys shouldn’t work when the accused perpetrator has an assassination outline that is cold, calculating and cunning. Nonetheless, Mr. Descano happily accepted the insanity plea, which could put Danehower back on the street within five years.

The Justice and Public Safety PAC runs on dollars from the George Soros family and is dedicated to the mission of allowing miscreants to prowl the streets to create chaos. This PAC filled Mr. Descano’s campaign war chest to the brim, and he has dutifully carried out the PAC’s interests.

In September, Mr. Descano let off another thug accused of selling drugs and “possession of a machine gun for an unlawful purpose.” Because this man was not in jail, he was free to reportedly shoot a Fairfax County man in his home, leaving him in critical condition.

The man will stand trial in April for this terrible offense, or, rather, he is scheduled to stand trial. That’s if he is not given an insanity plea like the 11 other homicidal butchers that have been spared prison sentences in the past three years, thanks to Mr. Descano’s leniency, according to the local group Virginians for Safe Communities.

It’s not just murder. Two years ago, Mr. Descano allowed a noncitizen with a long rap sheet to escape serious charges after being accused of raping a Herndon woman. Illegal aliens and members of any other demographic group that Mr. Descano favors recognize that, no matter what they do, their felonies will be reduced to misdemeanors, and sentences will be light.

Prosecutors like Mr. Descano are responsible for the rising lawlessness in blue states. The latest Rasmussen survey says 80% of likely voters are concerned about violent crime. This has emerged as one of the strongest issues that Republicans can use to drive their message home that Democrats are out of control.

Voters in Fairfax County and elsewhere in the country need to remember these cases before casting a ballot for Mr. Descano or other members of his party.
