The Washington Commanders made their first major move of the offseason on Monday, re-signing offensive lineman Andrew Wylie to a two-year contract, a source familiar with the negotiations confirmed to The Washington Times.
The deal is worth up to $10.5 million over the next two seasons.
Wylie, a two-time Super Bowl champion with the Kansas City Chiefs, has started 34 games across three seasons in Washington.
He moved to a backup role last season, filling in behind right guard Sam Cosmi and right tackle Josh Conerly Jr.
Washington also experienced a personnel shift on the coaching staff on Monday. The Los Angeles Rams confirmed that they had hired Brian Johnson as their senior offensive assistant.
The coach spent last season as Washington’s pass game coordinator. He interviewed for the offensive coordinator position vacated by Kliff Kingsbury, but the Commanders opted to promote quarterbacks coach David Blough instead.
Now, Johnson will reunite with Kingsbury in Los Angeles. The Rams also noted on Monday that Kingsbury would serve as their assistant head coach under Sean McVay.
