Slade Gorton & Co., Inc. is recalling one lot of Wellsley Farms frozen Atlantic salmon sold at BJ’s Wholesale Club stores across seven states. The recall comes after FDA sampling detected potential listeria contamination, according to a company announcement posted by the Food and Drug Administration.
The recall affects lot 3896 of Wellsley Farms Farm-Raised Atlantic Salmon sold in 2-pound bags at BJ’s locations in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Virginia between Jan. 31 and Feb. 7, 2026.
The contamination was discovered through random sampling conducted by the FDA. No illnesses have been reported in connection with the recalled product, according to the Waltham, Mass.-based seafood distributor.
The recalled salmon is packaged in 2-pound bags bearing the Wellsley Farms logo and “Farm-Raised Atlantic Salmon” on the front label. Consumers can identify the affected product by the UPC code 888670025963 and lot number 3896 printed on the back of the bag below the cooking instructions and nutrition facts panel.
Listeria monocytogenes poses serious health risks, particularly for pregnant women and vulnerable populations. While healthy individuals may experience short-term symptoms including high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, the infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths in pregnant women.
BJ’s Wholesale Club is directly notifying members who may have purchased the recalled salmon. Customers who believe they bought the affected product can call 1-888-628-0730 at any time for instructions on obtaining a full refund and disposing of the remaining product.
Slade Gorton & Co., Inc. said it is investigating how the contamination occurred and implementing measures to prevent future incidents.
Consumers experiencing symptoms of listeria infection should consult a health care provider immediately.
