Kid Rock denied allegations Tuesday that he lip-synced to his song “Bawitdaba” at the Turning Point USA Super Bowl halftime show.
“My halftime performance was pre-recorded but performed live. No lipsyncing like the haters and fake news are trying to report. When they synced the cameras to my performance on Bawitdaba, it did not line up,” Kid Rock said on X Tuesday.
The artist previously told Fox News host Laura Ingraham, “I’m jumping around the stage like a rabid monkey, rapping my song, and I’m taking breaths, and my DJ is filling in the other parts of it… I even told them when I saw the rough cut, I was like, ’You guys got to work on that sync. It’s off. It was just a syncing issue that they had, and I know they tried to get it right. It was very difficult.”
Kid Rock headlined the Turning Point USA program, which streamed on YouTube as counter-programming to the halftime show aired on NBC during the official Super Bowl broadcast, which featured Puerto Rican singer Bad Bunny performing entirely in Spanish.
Turning Point USA’s “All-American Halftime Show” got as many as 6.1 million concurrent viewers, according to The Athletic. The Bad Bunny performance averaged 128.2 million viewers, NBC said in a release.
