An Arizona State University professor was forced to take Diversity, Equity and Inclusion training by university administrators — despite the fact state law states employees cannot be forced by public employers to take DEI training. 

Moreover, when the professor went to his administrators to point out that DEI training cannot be compelled based on state law, the response he received was this: DEI training? What DEI training?



“The first response I got,” said Owen Anderson, an Arizona State University philosophy professor, “was that the training doesn’t exist and I think they were saying that as a play on words because I said hey, I don’t think we’re allowed to take DEI training, but the title of the training was inclusive communities — even though the email I received links to it to say inclusive training is DEI training.”

Then Arizona university officials said it wasn’t required.

Then when Anderson showed university officials the directive that said the training was in fact required, and they moved to prevent him from going to court to fight the mandate.

And it just grows curiouser and curiouser, as Alice might say.

It’s all about creating the narrative that society is broken into two groups — the oppressors and the oppressed.

“The training said that white supremacy is the very foundation of the United States,” Ande

rson said. “Presumably then every white male is a white supremacist.”

Anderson has taken the matter to court; the Goldwater Institute is representing him.
