Nearly 70 firefighters helped extinguish a blaze at the historic Magic Castle in Hollywood on Tuesday, multiple news outlets report.

The fire erupted about 5:30 p.m. in the three-story Victorian building shortly after it opened for the evening. The Los Angeles Fire Department said 68 firefighters responded to the blaze.

Fire officials said work being done on the roof may have caused the fire.

The Magic Castle’s owner told CBS LA that he was grateful for firefighters’ quick response and that he plans to reopen the performance venue as soon as possible.

The Magic Castle mansion, built in 1909, is a venue for magicians, a restaurant and the clubhouse for the Academy of Magical Arts.

The mansion was transformed into the Magic Castle in 1963 and was declared a Los Angeles historic-cultural monument in 1989.
