Coming of a 5-12 season in 2025 — and only two seasons removed from an NFC Championship game appearance — the Washington Commanders have a specific position of need on each side of the ball in this year’s NFL Draft.

With only six picks to work with, sports reporter Liam Griffin joins George Gerbo on this edition of the District of Sports podcast to narrow down who the Commanders could select in Pittsburgh with the seventh overall pick in the first round — with a focus on edge rushers as well as a wide receiver to line up opposite veteran Terry McLaurin — while also identifying potential targets for Washington in rounds 3-7.

The two also discuss the future of Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin’s playing career after the NHL’s all-time leading goal scorer sent mixed signals over the last month about whether or not he will return for a 22nd season.
