Pop star Britney Spears has checked herself into rehab for substance abuse, multiple news outlets report.
This comes after Ms. Spears was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence in Ventura County, California, on March 4.
A California Highway Patrol trooper pulled her over and arrested her in Westlake Village, near her home. She was released from jail after a few hours, and is set to appear in court on May 4.
The “Toxic” singer has since entered a treatment facility after sources close to her said she has hit “rock bottom.”
The 44-year-old singer and dancer has struggled with substance abuse involving alcohol and Adderall for years.
Sources close to her say her recent arrest prompted her to seek treatment, which would reflect positively in court.
Ms. Spears was placed under a conservatorship in 2008, when her personal life and finances were governed by her father, Jamie Spears. A judge terminated the conservatorship in 2021.
