OPINION:
Congress is back from one of its many annual vacations, the latest of which was its monthlong August sojourn.
This outfit has had since February to formulate a viable budget through the committee and appropriation process, yet, as usual, it has nothing.
Every September, we have the same nonsense: an impending, threatened government shutdown because of Congress’ laziness and stupidity.
Without a firm budget, long-term military and civilian program funding is adversely affected. These so-called leaders apparently couldn’t care less about the harm done to the nation by this political nonsense.
Of course, you can bet that Sens. Charles E. Schumer and Cory A. Booker and Rep. Hakeem Jeffries will grandstand their objections to the Trump administration’s budget. Because of these three dandies, the government just might shut down for a period of weeks before a continuing resolution agreement is reached just days before Thanksgiving.
There you go: a legislative branch being run by a bunch of fruit loops.
