The Commanders are trying to keep their wide receiver room afloat as injuries pile up. The team signed veteran pass-catcher Robbie Chosen, formerly known as Robbie Anderson and Chosen Anderson, to the practice squad on Tuesday.
Chosen, 32, most recently worked with the San Francisco 49ers during this year’s training camp. He spent last season with the Miami Dolphins, appearing in two games and recording a single five-yard reception.
The Temple product has recorded 380 catches for 5,087 yards across an NFL career that started in 2016. His best season came with the Carolina Panthers in 2020, when he caught 95 passes for 1,096 yards. He has bounced around the league the past five years, unable to rekindle his best performance.
The Commanders needed another option at wide receiver. Two-time Pro Bowler Terry McLaurin missed Sunday’s loss to the Atlanta Falcons with a quad issue that could continue to sideline him. Fellow wide receiver Noah Brown missed the past two games with a groin injury.
In their place, coach Dan Quinn has relied on less flashy names. Journeyman Chris Moore has appeared in multiple games. The team called up fellow receiver Tay Martin from the practice squad for Sunday’s game.
The Commanders will likely provide injury updates on McLaurin and Brown ahead of Wednesday’s practice as they prepare for a trip to Los Angeles to face the Chargers on Sunday.
