OPINION:
On Sunday night, millions of people watched as hundreds of thousands gathered in a stadium to remember the life of Mr. Charlie Kirk. We saw many good things, from the praise music to the many great talks. There are several takeaways from this commemoration that I would like to point out, as the political left was likely blind to them.
One: Although Kirk was remembered for doing great and good things in his too-short life, the honor and praise went first to God and then to others. Most college graduates are deaf to this bold truth. We are made greater by God and others. It doesn’t take a college degree to learn to choose friends who make us good; it takes parents who do so and teach us to do so.
Two: Behind every strong man is a stronger wife, and being a good mother makes a woman stronger. Forming a child in goodness makes a parent stronger. The greatest achievement is to raise up children into good, strong, morally responsible adults.
Three: Kirk’s wife, Erika showed us just how strong she is, as she continues to live out the life she shared with her husband in Jesus Christ. Less than two weeks after her beloved was murdered, she struggles to forgive the man who killed him — but she is winning in the strength of her relationship with the Risen Lord’s forgiveness. Her struggle was underlined by President Trump’s own honesty (something radical liberals don’t seem to know) at the funeral.
Mrs. Kirk’s victory in Jesus’ forgiveness from the cross gives us hope that we will live beyond the hatred of the left. Christian faith doesn’t lead to violence, unless it is twisted like radical Islam. It leads to forgiveness.
