Commanders starting left guard Brandon Coleman will not play during Sunday’s home game against the Las Vegas Raiders, the team announced before kickoff.
His absence is not injury-related, according to a team spokesperson.
Coleman, a third-round pick in 2024, started the first two games of the season. Though he was limited in Wednesday’s practice with a shoulder injury, Commanders officials said he was inactive on Sunday due to “a coach’s decision.”
It is not clear who will start in his place. Several reports have indicated that the Commanders would shake up their offensive line after struggling to protect quarterback Jayden Daniels during the Week 2 loss to the Green Bay Packers.
Veterans Nick Allegretti and Andrew Wylie are the most likely candidates to fill the guard spots.
Daniels, who suffered a knee injury against Green Bay, will not play on Sunday. Journeyman Marcus Mariota will lead Washington’s offense in his first start since 2022.
